DSF-IITM Workshop on Distributed Ledgers with Hedera

The Centre for Cybersecurity, Trust and Reliability (CyStar), IIT Madras is inviting you to a week-long workshop on the theory and applications of Distributed Ledgers with a focus on approaches utilizing the Hedera Hashgraph Network and its allied services. The workshop will take place during the week of November 25th - November 30th at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras Campus. Register below (by 11th November 23:59 IST) to be invited to the selection process!

We are grateful to the DLT Science Foundation for their generous support in conducting these workshops. We extend our sincere appreciation to the National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai for their invaluable collaboration and support in coordinating the DSF Workshop on Distributed Ledgers.

Foundational Topics

The first two days will feature lectures by Prof. John Augustine and Prof. C Pandu Rangan who will cover the fundamentals of computing theory that makes these distributed systems tick, namely Consensus and Cryptography!

dApp development

Over the rest of lecture sessions, you will learn how to model your decentralized application, the current application areas where decentralized ledgers are utilized as well as regulatory and legal aspects of DLTs. Industry experts Deepak Lalan and Angshuman Kaushik will be guiding you on these topics respectively.

Hands-On Training

For the first four days, you will be given Hands-On training with the various services in the Hedera Ecosystem. Through these sessions, you will learn the tools needed to implement your own working dApp prototypes.

mini-Hackathon

Towards the end of the week, you will sharpen what you've learned so far by participating in a mini-Hackathon. You will model and implement your solution to any one of our challenge problems. On the final day, our feedback will help chart your roadmap to launching your own decentralized application!

Continued engagement with IITM

This workshop is a great stepping stone to explore the diverse opportunities provided by the IIT Madras academic and start-up ecosystem. Going forward, you (and your fellow workshop participants) can stay in touch with CyStar members in various ways, including:

  • Working on theoretical/practical projects
  • Employment opportunities
  • Higher education opportunities (i.e., Masters/PhD program)
  • Technical Requirements

Participants will be required to bring their own laptops and are expected to have some exposure to programming beforehand.

    Logistical Support

All selected participants from outside Chennai city can avail accomodation and limited travel reimbursements for attending the Workshop

    Expected Outcome

Gain appreciation for the commercial landscape of the decentralized software space to start your own venture. As a successful participant, you will learn to reason if a given business case benefits from the use of DLTs and how to implement your prototype using the Hedera Ecosystem.
