Welcome to ID6020. This course is intended for first semester MS and PhD scholars at IIT Madras. First of all, congratulations on your admission to IIT Madras. We hope that you will enjoy a fantastic research experience. This course will introduce you to several important skills that you will need for research.
The first meeting for this course will be on Thursday Aug 12, 2021. Please keep your Thursday afternoons free from other engagements this semester.

This is a compulsory course for all MS/PhD scholars (and also for some other specialized programs). So even if you are unable to register via workflow, we can get you registered provided there is no slot clash.
Did you register for ID6020 on workflow? If not (or if it was rejected), send an email to the Deputy Registrar for academic courses at drcourses@iitm.ac.in and CC the course coordinators.
Are you yet to be registered on moodle even after registering at workflow? Email the course coordinators.
Webex links for attending video lectures are available in moodle. There is no need to email us.

Sat, Aug 28 (11 AM - 12.30 PM), Prof. Karmalkar will hold an extra session. Start time is different from the usual.

Thu, Sept 9 (2 - 5 PM), Prof. K. Ramamurthy will discuss issues of ethics in research
Furthermore, all ID 6020 students will be required to take a course on the prevention of sexual harassment conducted by an external agency. More details will be provided in due course.
Note: Earlier we planned to have a lecture on Aug 23. Now that lecture has been moved to Sept 9.
